5 Travel & Tourism Events to Put on Your Calendar: October 2026 to March 2027
The next six months contain some of the travel industry’s most useful opportunities to step outside the daily operation of a tourism business and see what is changing around it.
But not every travel conference deserves a flight, hotel and several days away from the business.
For tour operators, experience brands, destination businesses and the technology companies serving them, the value of an event depends heavily on who is actually in the room.
Are you trying to meet distributors? Understand how discovery and booking behaviour are changing? Find technology partners? Build relationships with destination organisations? Or simply hear how other operators are solving problems similar to yours?
For the period between October 2026 and March 2027, these are five events we believe are especially worth knowing.
| Event | Date | Location | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|---|
| Arival 360 | Spokane | 12–15 October 2026 | Spokane, USA | Tours, activities and attractions |
| WTM London | 3–5 November 2026 | London, UK | Global partnerships, buyers and distribution |
| The Phocuswright Conference | 17–19 November 2026 | Fort Lauderdale, USA | Travel technology, strategy and innovation |
| FITUR | 20–24 January 2027 | Madrid, Spain | Destinations, international markets and experiences |
| ITB Berlin | 16–18 March 2027 | Berlin, Germany | Global tourism, buyers, destinations and technology |
1. Arival 360 | Spokane

If your business sells things travellers do once they reach a destination, Arival is arguably the most specialised event in this list.
Its audience is built around tours, activities, attractions and experiences rather than the wider travel industry. That makes the conversations much closer to the operational problems faced by experience businesses every day.
The 2026 Spokane programme is focusing on subjects including AI, changing distribution, social commerce, technology, multi-day experiences and the increasing overlap between different experience categories.
Why it is especially useful
- The audience includes operators, OTAs, booking-technology companies, marketers and distributors.
- It is specialised enough for conversations to move beyond generic tourism trends.
- Arival builds dedicated meeting time into the event, which matters if your objective is partnership rather than passive learning.
- For smaller tour operators, it can offer a more directly relevant environment than the enormous global trade fairs.
For Create Circus clients operating tours, activities and attractions, this is probably the event on the list whose programme maps most directly to their actual business model.

WTM London is a very different proposition.
Instead of specialising in one part of the visitor economy, it brings together destinations, tour companies, accommodation, technology providers, media, buyers and tourism organisations from around the world.
WTM says the event brings together more than 4,000 exhibitors, more than 46,500 travel professionals from over 180 countries and thousands of buyers with purchasing authority.
For 2026, the event is also expanding its travel-technology proposition, making the show increasingly relevant to businesses thinking about distribution, AI, data, booking systems and the technology layer behind tourism.
Why it is especially useful
- Its international scale makes it valuable for businesses looking beyond one destination or one market.
- It brings a large buyer community into the same environment as operators and suppliers.
- Destination organisations and tourism boards have a significant presence.
- WTM Travel Tech creates an additional reason to attend if digital infrastructure is part of your strategy.
The danger with WTM is simply its size. Going without a plan can turn three days into an exhausting walk through exhibition halls.
The value increases dramatically when meetings are arranged before arrival and the attendee already knows which markets, partners or technologies they want to explore.

Phocuswright sits at the intersection of travel, technology, research, investment and strategic decision-making.
Its 2026 conference includes executive discussions, industry roundtables, startup programming, research presentations and an innovation programme focused on companies changing the travel ecosystem.
The 2026 theme, “Pressures. Power. Pivots.”, reflects many of the structural issues the industry is currently dealing with: artificial intelligence, platform power, changing customer expectations, distribution economics and the pressure to modernise legacy technology.
Why it is especially useful
- The audience skews towards travel executives, technology companies, investors and strategic decision-makers.
- Phocuswright is strongly research-led, so discussions tend to go deeper than generic trend forecasting.
- The startup and innovation programmes make it useful for understanding what the next layer of travel technology may look like.
- It is particularly relevant for companies thinking about distribution, platforms, AI and digital transformation.
For a small independent tour operator, the ticket price and executive focus may make Arival a more immediately useful event.
For a larger travel company, technology provider, ambitious multi-market operator or business trying to understand where travel distribution is heading, Phocuswright becomes much more compelling.

FITUR opens the major European tourism-calendar cycle in January and combines enormous international scale with a particularly strong connection to Spain, Europe and Latin America.
The first three days of FITUR 2027 are reserved for professionals, while the weekend opens the fair to the wider public.
The organisers say the previous edition brought together more than 10,000 companies from 161 countries and attracted approximately 255,000 visitors.
For Create Circus, one of the most interesting parts of FITUR is the fair’s increasing specialisation. FITUR Experience focuses directly on experiential tourism, while FITUR TechY and the dedicated Travel Technology area bring digital infrastructure into the conversation.
Why it is especially useful
- Strong access to Spanish-speaking and Latin American tourism markets.
- A major destination and DMO presence.
- Dedicated areas around experiential tourism, technology, accessibility, cruises, sport and other tourism verticals.
- A useful event for companies seeking destination partnerships or international expansion.
For experience operators trying to strengthen their presence in Europe or Spanish-speaking markets, FITUR deserves serious consideration.

ITB Berlin is the largest all-round industry event in this six-month calendar.
The 2026 edition brought together thousands of exhibitors from more than 160 countries and almost 100,000 visitors, while the ITB Berlin Convention ran alongside the exhibition as one of the industry’s major strategic programmes.
The 2027 show runs from 16 to 18 March and continues ITB’s model of combining an enormous international exhibition with a major industry convention.
The show is organised both geographically and by tourism segment, including Adventure Tourism, Business Travel, Luxury Travel, Medical Tourism and Travel Technology.
Why it is especially useful
- Exceptional international reach across destinations and travel sectors.
- Strong access to tourism boards, buyers, technology companies and established operators.
- A substantial conference programme running alongside the commercial exhibition.
- Useful for businesses considering international partnerships, expansion or market positioning.
ITB can be extremely productive, but like WTM, it rewards preparation.
The question is not simply whether to attend ITB. It is which people you need to meet while tens of thousands of other travel professionals are in Berlin at the same time.

There is no reason for most tourism businesses to attend all five.
The better approach is to start with the business problem you want the event to solve.
If you operate tours, activities or attractions: start with Arival.
If you need buyers, international partnerships or distribution relationships: look closely at WTM London and ITB Berlin.
If technology, AI, investment or the future of travel distribution is the priority: Phocuswright is the most concentrated environment.
If Spain, Europe, Latin America or destination partnerships are strategically important: FITUR becomes particularly relevant.
Travel events become expensive very quickly once flights, accommodation, tickets and several days away from the business are included.
The objective should therefore be more specific than “networking”.
Identify the partners you want to meet. Decide which questions you need answered. Research exhibitors and speakers. Book meetings before the show. And know what you want somebody to remember about your business after a five-minute conversation.
Your six-month tourism events calendar

The dates are spread surprisingly well across the season: Arival in October, WTM and Phocuswright in November, FITUR in January and ITB in March.
That creates an opportunity to treat events as part of an annual business-development system rather than isolated trips.
One event might be used to understand what is changing. Another to meet potential partners. Another to enter a new geographic market.
The important part is knowing why you are going before you arrive.
